Introduction
Follow this step-by-step guide to update your event details. Each section corresponds to the panels you will see in your WordPress editor.
Steps
Click on ‘Edit Event’ and you’ll see the following fields:
1. Title
Enter the name of the event here. This is the main headline that users will see on the website and search engines.
2. Description
This is the main content area. Use this space to provide a detailed summary of the event. You can add images, format text (bold, italics), and create lists to make the information clear for your visitors.
3. The Events Calendar
This section handles the logistical core of the event:
Location: Manage the Venue and Map settings to show users exactly where the event is held.
Virtual Event: Check this option if the event is being held online.
Organizers: Select or add the Organizer responsible for the event.
4. Yoast SEO
Use this tool to control how your event appears on Google. You can edit the "SEO Title" and "Meta Description" to make the event more attractive in search results.
5. Events (Detailed Settings)
This section contains specific data for the event listing:
Ticketmaster ID & Subtitle: Connect the event to Ticketmaster and add a secondary headline or subtitle.
Sales Info: Set the On-sale date and indicate if Group sales are applicable.
Pricing: Toggle Display price on or off, and set the Minimum and Maximum prices.
Status & Visibility: Set the default status to Pending or Published. Use the Show Tickets Button checkbox to display or hide the "Buy Tickets" button on the site.
Event Detail Image: Upload the specific image that will be displayed within the event's detailed page.
6. Presale Info
If you have an early-access period, use this section to list the registration phases, dates, and the specific URLs for early-bird ticket purchases.
7. Subevents (Schedule)
For events with multiple sessions or specific time slots:
Required Fields: You must enter a Date and Time for each subevent.
Links: Provide the TM URL (Ticketmaster) and Parking URL for each specific session.
Current Status: Mark each subevent as Onsale, Offsale, Cancelled, Postponed, or Rescheduled.
Logistics: Define when Parking opens and when Doors open for your guests.
8. Author
This identifies the user profile that created the event. You can change this if you need the event to be attributed to a different team member.
Summary
Editing your events in WordPress is simple and easy by going to the Events section of your dashboard and clicking Edit Event. From there you will see the above eight fields which you can modify if needed.
