How to add/remove pages, rename menu items, add links and drop down menu items to your navigation menu
Introduction
Your main navigation menu is fully customisable and many changes can be made independently. In this article we will show you how to add/remove pages, rename menu items, add links and drop down menu items to your navigation menu using the WordPress dashboard.

How To Add a Page
To add a page or post to the menu, go to the Add menu Items box on the left. Open up the pages tab which contains three categories: Most Recent, View All, and Search.
If you have hundreds of pages on your site, the View All tab will likely be a bit unwieldy. Instead, use the Search tab to find the ones you want to add.
Once you have selected the page you want to add, click on Add to Menu. Your new pages will now be listed on the right.
How to Remove a Page
To remove a page, go to the Menu Structure section on the right. Select the pages or post you want to remove by clicking the arrow on the right.

How to Rename Menu Items
Select the menu item you want to rename.
In the Menu Structure section, find the item you wish to edit (for example, "Tickets & Events").
Click the small downward arrow â–¼ on the right side of that menu item to expand its settings.
Locate the "Navigation Label" field.
Once expanded, you'll see several fields including:
URL (for custom links)
Navigation Label – This is the text that actually appears in your website's menu bar.
Open link in a new tab (if enabled)
Update the Navigation Label.
In the Navigation Label field, delete the existing text and type your desired menu name. For example, if you want to rename "Tickets & Events" to simply "Events", change it here.
Note: Changing the Navigation Label only affects what visitors see in the menu. It does not rename the actual page title in WordPress.
Using HTML in Navigation Labels (Optional)
You can add simple HTML tags to format how the text appears in the menu. For example:
To create a line break like "Tickets
& Events", type:Tickets <br>& EventsThis would display as:
Tickets
& Events
Other common HTML you might use:
<strong>for bold text<em>for italic text<span style="color:red;">for colored text (advanced)
Important: Not all HTML tags will work correctly with all themes. Test your changes after saving to ensure they display as expected.
Save your changes.
Click the Save Menu button at the top or bottom of the page to apply your new menu names.
Add a Custom Link
If you want your menu to link to an external site, this can link to any URL. Click the Custom Links tab, then insert the URL, set the menu text, and click Add to Menu.
If you want your link to open in a new tab, you'll need to turn on the option hidden within the menu's interface. Turn it on by clicking Screen Options at the top of the screen, then ticking the Link Target checkbox.

Now when you use the dropdown arrow on a menu item, you’ll see a new checkbox: Open the link in a new tab. Click it, and you’re good to go.

How to add a menu item without a link
When creating a drop down menu if you want the top-level link to be text and nothing else, use this method.
First create a Custom Link like normal, but instead of inserting a link, insert the # symbol.
Then title the menu item as usual and click Add to Menu.
