# SEO: Best Image Practices

## Introduction

Setting alt text for images is very important for SEO and is a key contributing search engine ranking factor. Alt tags provide context to what an image is displaying, informing search engine crawlers and allowing them to index an image correctly. (This is also important for accessibility, as it helps individuals who use screen readers navigate and understand your website).

## Steps

1. When adding images, please ensure you also add an alternative text description.![](https://cdn.document360.io/54acc8b8-c8a5-4b1d-86af-cac0cfc1bfef/Images/Documentation/image(53).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-14T00%3A48%3A42Z&se=2026-10-14T01%3A48%3A42Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=eufWB4cMvg9Y9P7ZRn8xZabEmSGSsbH1FkqpaDtDUUE%3D)
